A Day in the Vintage Haberdashery Shop | Meet the Pincushion Half Dolls!

A Day in the Vintage Haberdashery Shop | Meet the Pincushion Half Dolls!

Hi everyone, I thought I’d show you what a typical day in my shop is like. It was great fun to film although I realised fairly rapidly that I need a camera that has a front-facing viewfinder, remember I still use my phone! So if the angles are odd or you can only see my chin, that’s why. Also, we’ve been busy working on the house so my workroom has been our sitting room, for weeks and weeks, and I know we are lucky that we’ve got another room but my goodness I’ve been a very deflated textile artist with nowhere to work. My first proper vlog, enjoy!

  1. Alot of US quilt shops took advantage of Social Media to keep their revenue streams going during the height of the pandemic..doing Facebook Live and Youtube shows… some just show the new fabric they got in and u go to their website to order and some show their fabric and notions during a live stream and u claim it in the chat..and they send invoices.. what if u did something like that. ..it would allow u to keep generating revenue even if the store wasn’t physically open

  2. Hi Eleanor, I’m Lynn and just now I’m having to use my Hubby’s phone mines playing up 😏, I a fairly new subscriber and I’m loving your shop 😊, it’s so Beautiful I love vintage sewing stuff 😊, might I ask , do you ever see any of the bobbins they used to use on the spinning wheels ?, I’m after one or maybe two to hang a kind of colarge cone crazy patchwork thing I’m doing , I just can’t find any of the old bobbins 🤔, Take Care Love x Looking forward to more videos 🤗

  3. Very interesting. I enjoyed that very much. I was not aware of half doll pin cushions. Were they used for hat pins or sewing pins or maybe either?

  4. Hi Miss Eleanor from North Georgia USA. I just now subscribed. I found you because on Linens and Scraps flosstube #2 at 21:00 min. they showed a half doll with a cross stitched skirt. Now I am down that rabbit hole. In fact the lady you are taking home was like the one I wanted on Etsy out of the U K. However, as you know, the shipping overseas is ridiculous and there could be a high chance of breakage. The most beautiful dolls I found were in the UK. I finally found one here I love that is German made. I plan to make her cross stitched skirt surrounded with beautiful girls.

  5. I live vintage and I so vintage and it’s good to see that you are promoting that and think it’s OK because sometimes people will say well that thread may not hold up, but it has with my quilts. So far.

  6. Thanks for sharing your delightful shop. If I didn’t live on the opposite side of the country (East Anglia) I would love to pay a visit.

  7. I feel like you all the time I recycle everything and they’ll send me something in a paper bag and then a bunch of plastic. It’s like what’s the point. Love your program so much and such honesty from you.❤
